Community Support Readiness Program (CRSP)

Community Readiness and Support Program (CRSP)

The Community Readiness and Support Program (CRSP) is an Intensive Psychosocial Rehabilitation Program for individuals who are ready to work on their recovery in a daytime structured rehabilitation setting and may require intensive, individualized support due to their symptoms, circumstances, or recovery. Similar to PRS’ Recovery Academies, CRSP offers 3-4 psychoeducational groups per day where individuals served can learn and practice the skills they need to move forward in their recovery in a positive, strengths-based, normalizing environment. CRSP groups provide targeted, evidence-based curricula in domains of social skills, independent living skills, symptom management, and healthy living.

Some of the things the individuals we serve can learn and practice at CRSP through groups are:

  • How to make friends
  • How to talk to others
  • More about their mental illness
  • Coping skills for managing symptoms and tools for managing stress
  • Social skills for the professional world
  • Time management skills
  • How to complete independent living skills like cooking, cleaning, and managing appointments
  • How to take care of their health
  • Steps for maintaining sobriety

Co-Occurring Services

PRS provides services to individuals with the co-occurring disorders of mental illness and substance use disorder. Services to these individuals are integrated within CRSP so that individuals with co-occurring disorders can access all the services they need to achieve their recovery goals.

Additionally, PRS provides assessment for co-occurring disorders, individual/group counseling, psycho-education specifically targeted to the needs of these individuals, and training/assistance in locating and using community-based supports, such as Alcoholics Anonymous.

Once individuals served start the program, they will be assigned an Intensive Transition Specialist (ITS), who will be the individual’s point person for navigating the program, creating an individualized treatment plan with relevant, measurable, and attainable objectives, and regularly reviewing progress and barriers encountered. CRSP staff have small caseloads and can provide increased individualized, intensive support with learning, practicing, and applying learned skills across domains as well as with overcoming obstacles to recovery.

CRSP is a transitional program that encourages clients to transition toward less intensive daytime structured services, such as the PRS Recovery Academies, supportive employment programs, etc. once they are ready.

CRSP operates 5 hours per day, 5 days per week. Individuals served typically attend the program anywhere from 1-5 days per week with the intention of working toward at least 3 full days of attendance per week once they are ready.

CRSP is located within the Merrifield Center of the Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board.
