Community Housing Program

PRS Community Housing Program makes permanent housing and an array of support services available to adults with mental illness through Northern Virginia. Services provided include case management, community living skills training, supportive counseling, and crisis intervention. These services are delivered to clients living in homes directly operated by PRS, in County-subsidized housing, and with family members or other caregivers.

PRS Supported Housing

PRS makes permanent housing with support services available to the homeless living with psychiatric disabilities in Northern Virginia. Residents of PRS Supported Housing live in three-bedroom townhomes in close proximity to PRS Day Program locations, Fairfax County community mental health centers, and other community amenities. Length of stay is determined on an individual basis with no time limitations.

Residents receive an array of day program services through PRS, as well as ongoing case management, community living skills training, supportive counseling, and crisis intervention from Residential Services staff, who provide an average of 10 - 20 hours of onsite supports to residents each week. Residents also receive mental health treatment, case management, and medication management through the Fairfax - Falls Church Community Services Board Mental Health Services.

These services, delivered in a format that promotes successful recovery and community integration, include case management, community living skills training, supportive counseling, medication management, and crisis intervention. Residents may also attend PRS day programs.

PRS Mental Health Support Services

The PRS Mental Health Support Services makes supported-living residential services available to adults with psychiatric disabilities who live independently in the community or with family caregivers. Mental Health Support Services enable consumers to achieve and maintain community stability and independence. Individuals who have demonstrated a need for intensive support to maintain their housing status and move toward greater self-sufficiency are prioritized for admission.

The primary components of PRS Mental Health Support Services are community living skills training, supportive counseling, case management, and crisis intervention delivered in the recipient's home or community settings. The staff also provides training and support to other community service providers working with mental health consumers.
