About PRS Kentucky Derby Benefit

PRS, Inc. is the premier Northern Virginia nonprofit organization providing community-based support services for people with serious and persistent mental illness. Established in l963, PRS is guided by the belief that, with appropriate supportive services, people can recover from severe mental illness, achieve self-sufficiency and live fuller lives. PRS provides a full array of skills training and supports including: Day Programs that offer structured environments for those in the early stages of recovery; home-based supports provided in the clients’ homes or in community locations; Community Housing; and Supported Employment for those ready to seek employment. All programs and services aim to help clients achieve their own personal recovery and community integration.

All proceeds from the 15th Annual PRS Kentucky Derby Benefit support PRS programs that:
- Help PRS clients learn job skills and choose-get-and-keep competitive employment
- Enable clients to set and achieve personal goals, build relationships and find community support
- Provide case management services, assessment and counseling and life-skills training
- Provide supported housing and other residential services
- Assist clients in working toward independence and self-sufficiency
